Premier League this season has been so competitive, and full of surprises. From Sunderland’s unexpected top 10 run, and Liverpool’s downfall this season.
With the January transfer window in just under a month, and the top 3 in the Premier League table (Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City) all have different issues to address for the second part of the season.
Arsenal are now attempting to make more gaps and hold off the chasing teams to win their first Premier League’s title since 2004. Chelsea and Man City are both close enough to disturb Arsenal from going too far from other teams.
Meanwhile, Man United, Liverpool, and Spurs, the teams that are considered part of the big six are in a state of inconsistency after each of them spent big money on transfers this summer. Underperforming players and bad results are the main concern for Amorim, Slot, and Frank to solve from now until the season ends in May.
While players and coaches focus on the busy fixtures of December, the recruitment teams and director of football will be focusing on the things outside the pitch, like who they should sign, and the alternative if they fail to sign the main target. This can decide whether their team will succeed or fail this season.
Arsenal Chance for Premier League Title Charge
Arsenal have built a strong team with really good depth in every position on the pitch with as least two players in every position. They might be lacking in the striker position, with Gabriel Jesus constantly injured and Viktor Gyokerez yet to find his form in the Premier League. But they still have the answer for the striker position with Mikel Merino as their third choice striker.

Their main issue is there is no one to cover the position of their captain, Martin Odegaard. Odegaard has been very vital for Arsenal with his creativity and the way he leads the attack of the team. With him being injured so often this season, The Gunners sometimes looked lost and didn’t know what to do to break down the opponents’ defense.
Arsenal really need to find a creative midfielder to cover the position of Odegaard. It will be difficult for them to win the title if they fail to identify the perfect player for the position to cover Odegaard.
Manchester City to Challenge for Title Again
Man City were spending £360 million on two transfer windows in 2025. Even that amount of money couldn’t help Pep to find a top quality fullback and a midfielder to cover for Rodri’s fitness problems, and a quality striker to share the pressure with Erling Haaland.

Rodri proved to be so important for Man City. Since the Ballon D’Or winner had his ACL injured, Man city have been so inconsistent for many parts of last season, and this season.
Pep Guardiola has used Matheus Nunes in the right back position since last season, and that is certainly not his best position, and in some moments, Nunes proved that Man city really need a top class fullback to fill that position.

Up front, Haaland has been the scoring machine for Guardiola, but one injury, it will all be Man city for they don’t have an out-and-out striker for the Norwegian striker’s back up.
City needs to address those issues for them to challenge for the title this season.
Chelsea Needs to Change

Since Todd Boehly took over Chelsea, their transfer strategy and policy never focused on what they really needed in order for them to compete and win the competitions. The mostly focused on how to generate more money by buying so many young players and use that as a selection program to filter out which will stay and play and which will be sold to generate profit. This season, a top quality center-back and goal keeper are really needed by Maresca. The injury of Levi Colwill really made Chelsea’s back line a bit vulnerable. For goalkeeper, Robert Snachez is still making too many costly mistakes that hold back The blues from getting more Premier League points then they should have.
