Arne slot’s Liverpool side spent an enormous amount of money last summer transfer window. They roughly spent almost £415 million to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 season.

Last season’s Premier League champion seemed to be dominating the league this season with all the signings they made in the summer. After only five games, Liverpool were five points clear ahead of the second position.

Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen for a transfer fee of £116 million + add-ons. Not only stopping with that, Liverpool also signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle United on the deadline day for a Premier League record signing fee of £130 million with add-ons.

But, despite spending that amount of money they spent on two players, both players seem to struggle to keep up with the hype of their transfer fee. Alexander Isak only has one assist to his name and hasn’t scored a single goal in all competitions this season.

While Florian Wirtz who’s also brought in with a lot of money is yet to register a single goal and assist in the Premier League this season. But, he has two assists to his name in the Champion’s League this season. Both assists to his name are in the match against Eintrach Frankfurt.

It may be too soon to judge both Wirtz and Isak. Especially Wirtz who comes from a different league. He still needs time to adapt to the new league and new environment. For Isak, maybe he needs to quickly adapt to the Arne Slot’s system and get back his form from last season.

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes Impact in the Premier League

Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo are both signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2023. Both players, just like Isak and Wirtz, were also signed with enormous transfer fees.

Enzo Fernandes, was signed from Benfica in Portugal with the transfer fee of £106.8 million + add-ons. His transfer fee was very high after Enzo led the midfield of Argentina National Team winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Caicedo on the other hand, was signed from Brighton & Hove Albion with then Premier League record signing fee of £100 million + add-ons. Brighton demanded a lot of money that year because he still had a long contract with Brighton, and also Caicedo was considered one of the best youngsters with a lot of potential ready to be unleashed. With both players in the Chelsea’s line up. Chelsea have won the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League. And also the 2025 edition of FIFA Club World Cup.

Also, both players have successfully got Chelsea back to the Champions League this season.

It’s safe to say that Chelsea have spent money on the two bright young talents in the world, and it paid out well for them. Currently Chelsea are sitting in 2nd position in the Premier League table. With both playing for Chelsea, Chelsea have a solid midfield that can work together for a long time.
