Premier League Gameweek 13 gives us yet another interesting match. Crystal Palace hosted Manchester United with high confidence after their positive results and five unbeaten games in the league, but their confidence might drop a little after their loss in the UEFA Conference League in this mid-week.

Man United that  have zero win in Selhurst Park since 2020 also came with a motivation to end the winless games in the Premier League.

The battle between two teams with 3-4-3 tactics has been awaited by many fans to see which manager has better plans and tactics for the 3-4-3.

Manchester United almost scored a goal inside the first minute into the match after Diogo Dalot’s long throw-in created chaos in the Palace’s penalty box. Casemiro, who got the ball, failed to score after Dean Henderson successfully blocked the ball and catched it to secure the ball.

After that moment, Man United tried to attack again, but Crystal Palace had more momentum in the first half. Mateta was really dangerous with his run, positioning, and also  his ability to protect the ball and shooting. He created some chances, but United could hold him and made it difficult for him to score.

Mateta was brought down in the penalty area by Leny Yoro in the 33’ minute and the referee gave Palace a penalty. Mateta came in as the executor and successfully took the penalty, but the penalty had to be retaken after VAR check confirmed that Mateta made double touches in the process. He took the penalty and scored again, this time the goal stand.

After the goal, The Eagles kept putting pressure towards United and resulted in some chances that could be saved by Man United’s players, while The Red Devils looked confused to break down Palace’s defense. Palace led by one goal at half-time.

In the second half, Manchester United played with more intensity and pressed harder than in the first half. United’s constant attacks resulted in a free kick in the 53’ minute.

United’s equalizer came after Bruno Fernandes took the free kick and sent the ball to Joshua Zirkzee who was unmarked. He brilliantly controlled the ball and took a shot from a very tight angle. The ball deflected a little bit and went into the net. Get more Premier League information and news on Price In UK

It was his first goal in the Premier League this season and also in 24 PL’s games.

Man United’s comeback goal came in the 63’ minute after a clever free kick from Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount. Bruno took a short kick and set the ball on the better angle for Mount to shoot. Palace’s broken wall failed to block the shot and their five games unbeaten in the Premier League record was also broken in this match.

A very heartwarming moment came at the 82’ minute when Lisandro Martinez, who has been sidelined for nine months after an ACL injury, came into the pitch to replace Luke Shaw. His comeback has been long awaited by Man United fans because he was one of the United’s best performers last season before his injury.

With this result, Manchester United currently sit in the 7th position of the Premier League table with 21 points, and overtake Crystal Palace that is now sitting in the ninth position with 20 points.

Man United is now just three points away from the top four, and they certainly will fight for the Champions League spot for next season.

United fans will also hope that this result could be the stepping stone for them to build the momentum for the rest of this campaign.
