Premier League legends and icons, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker are making statements regarding the current issue of Liverpool star player, Mohammad Salah and the manager, Arne Slot.
It has been known that the Egyptian International spent seven minutes talking with the journalists after Liverpool 3-3 draw against Leeds United in the Premier League. He released the statement after he has been put on the bench for three consecutive Premier League games by Arne Slot. Moreover, out of the three benchings, Salah was unused in two of the matches.
Salah even said that his relationship with the Dutch manager is already broken after the decisions Slot made during the packed Premier League schedule.
After the news broke out, many pundits, football icons, and fans were commenting and releasing their own thoughts about what happened, and amongst all of them Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, the Premier League icons were also talking about this in their podcast.
On The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker and Shearer made some statement that Arne Slot was in the wrong for this fallout, and said that they understood what salah has felt in that situation.
Lineker on Salah statement:
“I think he’s got a point by the way,”
“A player who has done that much, been so consistent, the first bad spell he has really for the club, the first real bad spell, that’s when you need a manager’s support and his loyalty. You need him to help you under those circumstances.
“Also, if the team’s not playing very well, it’s generally the guys up front that struggle. So I think Mo’s absolutely right with what he’s saying. I don’t think Slot has handled it very well. I just can’t understand why he didn’t put him on. I would imagine there’s been a bit of something behind the scenes. I don’t know, but I think he’s right in what he says, almost, but to do it publicly was a bit unwise.”
Lineker was highlighting the fact that Mohammad Salah has been Liverpool’s best player for a long time now especially in the Premier League, and now he is having a bad period, Slot as the manager just suddenly feels that he doesn’t need Salah anymore.

The Premier League’s All Time Goal Scorer Also Have His Words

Alan Shearer also had his bit by saying that it was a similar situation during his playing time at Newcastle with Ruud Gullit as the manager at that time. Shearer said:
“I get his frustration, I get his anger, and I totally understand the way he will be feeling,”
“Similar situation with myself when Ruud Gullit left me out and wanted me out of the club.
“Mo Salah has been unbelievable for the football club. There’s only two players who scored more goals than him at that football club.”
Since the arrival of Mohammad Salah, Liverpool have won two Premier League titles, one Champions League title, and other domestic titles in England.
Also Since his arrival, he has been the third all time goal scorer for Liverpool with 250 goals only behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt with 346 goals and 285 goals respectively.
After Salah’s statement spread, he was left behind from the squad for the game against Inter Milan for the Champions League on Tuesday.
Salah also said that he will leave for AFCON right after the game against Brighton on Saturday, but there is no confirmation whether he will play at that game or not.
