Premier League: Aston Villa will face Arsenal in a fixture that carries major implications, with both teams going in this match with high confidence and in a good run of form. Arsenal remains on top of the table with five points clear of Man City after the 2-0 win against Brentford in the mid week.
Man City briefly closed down the point gap to two points after their remarkable 5-4 victory at Craven Cottage, but Mikel Arteta’s team managed to set the tempo to win the match.
Aston Villa’s mid week Premier League’s match showcased Unai Emery’s team fighting spirit to win the game after going 2-0 in the first half with Jan Paul Van Hecke’s goal and Pau Torres’ own goal. Villa then found their rhythm with Ollie Watkins going for a brace and one goal each for Amadou Onana and Donyell Malen sealed the epic 4-3 comeback for Unai Emery’s side.
That result gets Villa the 3rd position in the Premier League standing just one point away from Manchester City in the 2nd place, and six points away from the current leader, Arsenal. If Villa could get a win in this match, their point gap will be just three.
Injuries for Both Teams Ahead of Their Premier League’s Clash

Aston Villa will come to the game with several injured players unable to be selected. Emi Martinez is the main concern after his withdrawal from the Brighton clash due to pain on his lower back. Marco Bizot’s performance against Brighton got some criticism from Emery. Emery still couldn’t confirm the availability of Martinez for Arsenal’s game.
Ross Barkley will still be on the sideline at least until February with his knee injury and Tyrone Mings still in the recovery from his thigh injury. For Arsenal, Arteta also has his own issues, including the availability of Mosquera, who was subbed off for either ankle or knee injury as described by Arteta and he also said that the problem is more complicated.
