How Pluribus Secured Its Position As Apple TV’s Best Show Ever

According to Forbes, one of the best Apple TV shows this year, Pluribus, is celebrating its success at the end of this year, through its official Apple TV X account. Here, the announcement tweet came with a little video drawn from the celebratory (not so much) fireworks Carol set off last episode with the caption, “It’s official, Carol. #Pluribus — Now Streaming”
How could it not be, even though it’s relatively new compared to Severance, this series has been a success in terms of weekly discussions of strange sci-fi mysteries.
Moreover, Pluribus has successfully broken the record for the most-watched drama series at its launch on Apple TV of all time, surpassing Severance season 2. Not only that, now that the first season is almost over, Apple also announced that the series is actually the most-watched show in the history of the streaming platform.
While there’s still no definitive way of measuring this on the site, it’s an impressive achievement worth announcing and bragging about.
Created by Vince Gilligan, the story follows Carol (starring Rhea Seehorn), the most miserable person on earth, who is trapped in a world where its entire population has nearly converted to a rapturous hivemind.

Slowly But Surely Movement

Despite being considered too slow-paced, and audience ratings starting to fall significantly below critical ratings, the series was quickly renewed for a second season soon after its release, with an estimated cost of $15 million per episode.
However, production of the second season is expected to take a long time, with a possible release date around December 2027, more than two years from now.
Series creator Vince Gilligan estimated the series would run for around four seasons. However, he later corrected himself that the entire project largely depended on how long the star Rhea Seehorn wanted to spend on it, as she developed the entire project exclusively for herself.
Rhea Seehorn herself had just earned a Golden Globe nomination for Pluribus before the season even ended.
The show itself successfully gained 98% Tomatometer ratings from 139 reviews and 68% Popcornmeter from 1,000+ ratings on the Rotten Tomatoes website.
Several critics also pointed out how amazing this series is. Rafael Motamayor said, “Rhea Seehorn shines as the most miserable person on Earth set on rebelling against a new order.” Other critics, Pamela Powell, also adds, “Pluribus (look up the term before watching) lays out its premise with precision, but it’s the show’s intelligence and its uncanny emotional realism that delivers the real hook which inevitably reels you in.”
Ana Yorke also commented on this series in comparison to others, “Like Breaking Bad and Saul, it is set in Albuquerque, features a thorough exploration of capitalism and what it means to exist in today’s society, and anger. It is entirely predicated on anger.”
Not only from professional critics, but several casual users have also testified how this show is one of the must-watch series this year. One comment on the review website says, “Best show of 2025 hands down. Original in every aspect. Incredible.”
Another comment also adds, “I had not seen anything like this in a while. Given its slower than the typical series pace, I feel like I can inmerse more into the characters psyche, as if I am able to walk in their shoes. Every episode leaves me feeling stuff (sadness, anger, preocupation, etc). Every episode is very thought provoking. It makes you ponder about so many human issues. You can see it as a metaphor about so many things. Its a show about humanity and what makes us human under a larger than life situation backdrop. The performances are fantastic, often conveying so much of what the characters are thinking with little to no dialogue.”
That’s all the updates regarding Apple‘s TV series Pluribus, that has set a new success standard for the site’s series.
