Manchester United are ready to complete the transfer of Cristian Orozco, the Colombian U-17 international. He will arrive in England in the ‘next few days.’ Per Fabrizio Romano. Fabrizio also said that United are ready to pay Fortaleza the transfer fee of £755,000.
Having 13 appearances for Colombia at the youth level, Manchester United rate this youngster highly. His transfer is the part of the new recruitment strategy that’s pretty aggressive by Jason Wilcox as the transfer chief of the club.
The Colombian will officially complete the transfer and sign for Man United after his 18th birthday next July.
Cristian Orozco, ability to control the midfield and his composure surely is strongest traits that he has right now. He might still need to improve his overall game in order to challenge for the place in the Man United’s first team.
He might ready for the first team two or three years from now with the right development. It is not really a problem because Man United youth team is considered the best in England. So his development will certainly prepared and maintained.
Orozco drew the eyes of so many talent spotters in Europe. Joining the Colombian side of Fortaleza last summer, he’s been compared to his fellow Colombian countrymen Moises Caicedo.
Currently, Caicedo is considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.United chief of recruitment may regret the massive miss on signing him back in 2021. But there are rumors that said that the deal collapsed due to interference from some agents.

The £5.5 million transfer fee for Caicedo was deemed too expensive at that time. At the end, Caicedo signed for Chelsea for then a British record fee of £115 million.

If Man United can successfully developed these youngsters, United will certainly in have very strong young team that can play for a long time.
One of the example of this kind of signing is Alejandro Garnacho who is now plays for Chelsea. Garnacho was signed from Atletico Madrid’s youth team then developed by the United’s academy until he’s ready to be part of the first team.
Currently, Kobbie Mainoo is the only one United’s academy player that regularly getting game time for the United’s first team since his debut two seasons ago under Erik Ten Hag.

Fabrizio Romano also adds that Manchester United are still looking to add more midfielders to their team during 2026 transfer window. They might sign two starting midfielders during those windows.
For next January transfer window, United will try to sign Joao Gomes if Wolves open with the deal and ask for a reasonable price.
