Manchester United are bringing in Kyle Macaulay, the former analyst of Chelsea, West ham, and Brighton & Hove Albion analyst, as their head of senior scouting department.
The 39 years old Macaulay has a very good reputation in the premier league that have seen him as one of the best in bringing in talents to the clubs. And now he becomes the newest addition in order to reshape the scouting department of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils, since July, have been looking to add yet other key figures to assist the team on the transfer. It is a very necessary move when we look at the history of the past transfer window.
Manchester United under Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been doing some big changes on the recruitment department as that is one of the weakest positions of the club in a long year. Previously, United have been signing players with massive wages and also massive transfer fees.
But both massive numbers for players give Manchester United nothing in terms of achievement on the field.
Many fans are hoping that the arrival of Macaulay will help the club on becoming the best club in England again. With his ability to analyze and bringing in talents, United will be more decisive and bring the right players into the club.
Macaulay will be directly reporting to Manchester United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, and also take over the club’s global scouting network. Macaulay and Vivell have previously worked together at Chelsea from 2022 – 2023.
There are several candidates that Manchester United have looked into for this new role. The names include former Valenciennes sporting director, Ben Chorle. But Macaulay’s availability after his departure from West Ham in October made him the first choice for the position.
Macaulay was a figure that was very liked by the people in his previous clubs. His work is very close with combining data with his network. Find more interesting news and Information about Manchester United curated by the editorial team at Price In UK
About Kyle Macaulay, The New Manchester United’s Head of Senior Scouting
Macaulay’s career has been closely following Graham Potter as both played a crucial part in bringing Ostersound from the fourth tier league of Swedish Football to the knockout phase of Europa League. Macaulay’s successful six years tenure at Sweden brought him the chance to have a career in the Premier League.

In 2018, Macaulay followed the step of Graham Potter to Swansea City. There, he became the chief scout, and a year later, Brighton & Hove Albion recruited him to be the head of scouting of the club.
In his time there, Macaulay has brought in some familiar talents that we know of. The likes of Leandro Trossard, Danny Welbeck, Kaoru Mitoma, Moses Caicedo and Marc Cucurella brought in by the club on a free transfer, and later, some of them are sold for a lot of money to the other Premier League teams like Chelsea and Arsenal.
With those signing, Brighton have became a strong mid-table team in the Premier League. Not only competitive on the field, Brighton also generate a lot of profit from the players departures.

Macaulay then joined Chelsea in 2022 also following Potter’s move. But he stayed even after Graham Potter was sacked a year later. His role at Chelsea was the Chief Analyst and he has worked under some popular head coaches like Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca.
Macaulay then moved to West Ham, yet again following the path of Graham Potter in January 2025. But it didn’t take a long time before Potter was sacked by the club.
After the departure of Potter, both Chelsea and West Ham have attempted to keep him on the club. But he decided to also leave the clubs.
