Manchester United were going through a massive cost-cutting policy after Sir Jim Ratchliffe had the minority stake. That was done after the controversial statement that Man United will run out of money by the Christmas of 2024.
Sir Jim then released many policies that made fans question the decision made by the new minority owner. But Sir Jim insisted that it was necessary for the club to make those changes.
In the latest financial report of Manchester United via Sky Sports, United are going down on revenue by 2% compared to last year from £143.1 million to £140.3 million. These numbers are from the matchday streams, broadcast and commercial, and the main factor of this might be the fact that The Red Devils are not playing in the European Competitions.
Despite going down in revenue, Manchester United are gaining profit from their operating cost this year. Last year in the same period, United posted a £7 million loss. This year on the other hand, United are recording a £13 profit in operating cost. This is a massive improvement for the club in the non-football side.
CEO Omar Berrada stated that this improvement in operational cost is also the good side of the unpopular cost-cutting policies made earlier.
“These robust financial results reflect the resilience of Manchester United as we make strong progress in our transformation of the club
“The difficult decisions we have made in the past year have resulted in a sustainably lower cost base and a more streamlined, effective organisation equipped to drive the club towards improved sporting and commercial performance over the long-term.
“That has helped us to invest in our men’s and women’s teams, sitting in sixth and third places in the Premier League and Women’s Super League respectively.”

Omar also said that if this continues, Manchester United are looking to forecast revenue between £640 million and £660 million by the end of the year. It is very close to last year’s record of £666.5.
The Financial Improvement Effect to The Footballing side of Manchester United

However, with all the improvement of the financial side of United, It will not alter the January transfer window for United. It is due to the Profit and Sustainable Rules (PSR). Man United were very close to breaking the PSR last season, and INEOS are looking to do a restructure on the players’ wages and transfer policy.
Any massive signing will need to wait until next season’s transfer window. With Manchester United are looking to go for big money transfer for either Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, or Carlos Baleba.
Manchester United are able to build a new training ground and be more “sustainable” after the cost-cutting policies implemented. It surely affect the footballing side beside the transfer that have been done. With new training facility, the players could have better experiences and hopefully will be reflected on the pitch.
