Manchester United signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in 2023 for a transfer fee around £63m. His career at United was circling against injuries after injuries. Erik Tn Hag wanted to sign him on 2023 to replace aging Cristian Eriksen who was unable to play past 65 minutes in a game
Many fans were doubting the signing because he was playing his best game on a no.10 position at Chelsea, and that spot is already occupied by Bruno Fernandes.
He was showing that he is a quality player even when playing in the deeper area as the double pivot with Casemiro. But injuries really hinder him from doing his best under Ten Hag, he barely played and has never played a full match until recently.
When Amorim came, a breath of fresh air came for him as Ruben really adored him and the fact that Mount played under Thomas Tuchel with similar formation made it look very promising for him.
At the end of last season, Mount showed a glimpse of what he could do if he could stay fit.
Mount Could be The Next Important Player for Manchester United
This season, Mount already has three goals for Manchester United with the latest goal coming from the game against Wolves last night.

At the post match interview he was asked about his goal that gave Manchester United a more comfortable lead.
Mount responds to SkySports:
“As soon as I see Bruno with the ball and time and space to turn, that’s my trigger to try to get in behind and time my run,”
“I thought it was going to be a bit close (to offside), but the defender dropped back and kept me onside. Delighted with that.”
It showed that his connection with Bruno Fernandes for Manchester United is getting better every time they start the game together, with both are very technical players. They often do one-two first touch passes like they understand each other now.

Not only his goal for Manchester United, his overall gameplay, the way he moved, his passing, the way he understood the situation on the pitch was spot on.
And when he was asked whether he already played with his best ability.
“Anytime I play, I obviously want to play to the best of my ability,” he said.
“I’ve had setbacks, I’ve had difficult times, I feel now I’m ready to keep pushing on and building on these performances. Getting in the goals, that’s the most important thing as a forward player.”
Amorim also admitted that he was a fan of Mount during his time at Chelsea. Amorim really adored him for his workrate and his intelligence to read the game and his positioning.
“If you compare the past that he had in Chelsea, which is the same (position), and then he has a great quality,” Amorim said.
“He can defend, he can attack, the quality when he touches the ball is really good. So it’s not a surprise for me, but of course, we need to take care of him. Sometimes you need to protect them in training, in games. But when you build, that is going to happen, the same thing with Luke Shaw. He’s going to be really important for our club.”
Amorim also added that Mount’s absence could affect the tactic:
“Sometimes it’s the tactical issue, when you play a striker, and sometimes Cunha is going to that position.”
Mount seems like he’s about to find his performance if he could stay fit this season, and Amorim is obviously will use him as an example of what he wants in a player
“He’s a different type of leader,” Amorim said.
“It’s not like Licha (Martinez), for example. He’s a guy that leads by the example. It doesn’t matter the situation. Mason Mount is always the same thing, training, talking, dealing with people around Carrington. That is not easy. He’s a very, very good player.”
