Liverpool are having an injury crisis with Joel Gomez and Dominic Szoboszlai injured during the game against Brighton. Next match, The Reds will meet Tottenham Hotspurs and they need a win to climb the table as they are now have same points with three other teams.
These injuries will give Arne Slot a headache because he will be short in some positions on the pitch. Last weekend, Liverpool were already short on right back with the injury of Jeremy Frimpong and Conor Bradley got suspended.
Joel Gomez had to fill the gap and played out of position because of the missing players. They also still didn’t have Wataru Endo as he was still recovering from his injury.
Next week, Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League, and they certainly need someone to cover the position of Szoboszlai. Frimpong is still doubtful for next week while Gomez and Szoboszlai are still waiting for the medical team to confirm their condition after further inspections.
For the past few games, Arne Slot has been using the diamond formation and it looked convincing with the positive results that they got. Szoboszlai played an important part in that formation and it will be interesting to see who will cover the position of the Hungarian international. In the Tottenham Match, Slot is likely to use the same formation, and Szoboszlai will be needed.
But with the absence of Dominic and the lack of senior players in the midfield, Arne Slot might need to get reinforcements from the academy. Nyoni has been played in the midfield and also in the center back by Arne Slot, and he has showed that he could be playing in more than one positions. This kind of versatile player is needed in every top club in Europe.
This season, he hasn’t been getting a chance to play in the Premier League for Liverpool, but he got some game time in UCL and domestic competitions. With the injury of Dominic Szoboszlai, his chance of getting his league debut is getting higher.
