Premier League’s Fastest 100 Goal Record by Shearer is Broken By Erling Haaland

Premier League’s record of the fastest player to score 100 goals has been held by Alan Shearer for 30 years since he made the record in 1995. 

Erling Haaland became the newest holder of the record after scoring his 100th Premier League  goal in the match against Fulham on Tuesday. That goal also helped Man City to win the game.

Haaland broke the long-standing record after he scored 100 Premier League’s goals in just 111 appearances, while Shearer, the previous record holder, got his 100th goal after his 124 appearances.

When he was asked about the record he had just broken he said:

“I don’t want to say the words, but when you’re a striker for Man City, you should be delivering great numbers and that’s my job,” He said to the Sky Sports’ journalist after the win. “People should criticize me if I don’t. That’s normally what people do, so in the end … I should deliver.”

This record is just the latest record Haaland has broken since his arrival in the Premier League in July 2022.

That goal also meant that he surpassed some big names that ever hit the ground in the league to score 100 goals, including Mohammad Salah (162 games), his rival in the league, Sergio Aguero (147 games), and Thiery Henry (141 games)

Haaland in his debut season registered a record 36 goals in the league, and also collected a pair of golden boots the next season with 27 goals in the 2023/24 season.

Last season with the downfall of Man City, he scored 22 league goals and from the start of this season, he already has 15 goals in 14 appearances. If Pep could solve the issues in his team this season, it’s not impossible for Haaland to get another golden boot to his collections.

“It’s huge and I’m really proud and, of course, it’s a massive thing,” Haaland said. “The 100 club is a nice thing to be in.”

Haaland has scored against all 23 clubs he faces in the Premier League, with Wolves as his favourite club for him to score against. He scored 10 goals against Wolves in six meetings. He also likes to score against West Ham with nine goals and Manchester United with eight goals. All that also in six meetings.

Currently, Sunderland is the only team in England’s top flight league that Haaland never scored goals against. Man City will face Sunderland two times this season, and Haaland has a chance to complete his collection of teams he has scored against.

Can Haaland Become the Premier League All Time Goal Scorer?

This is his fourth season as a Man City player and he certainly will become one of the greatest players City have had in their entire history. With his 100th goal already, Haaland will certainly try to break another Shearer’s record of the all-time Premier League top goal scorer. Shearer’s record with 260 goals certainly not an easy one to break, but with his talent, he still get a long career, and if he decides to stay in the Premier League long enough, he certainly will break that 260 goals record.
