Manchester United are seemingly ready to part ways with Manuel Ugarte after just 17 months at the club. He originally had a 5 year contract with Man United, but with his recent performance and the fact that he couldn’t recreate what he was capable of during his time at Sporting.
Turkish giant, Galatasaray are now reportedly closely monitoring the Uruguayan. Galatasaray are hoping that they could get a deal in the upcoming January transfer window based on a report from Erol Evcen.
Ugarte is an experienced midfielder who has played in three different leagues in Europe. He started his career in Portugal with Sporting CP under Ruben Amorim, then PSG brought him to Parc des Princes in 2023 after his impressive performance. But his time in France only lasted for one season after he was put in the transfer list with Manchester United came to sign him for £50.5 million.
With Ruben Amorim appointed as the head coach of Manchester United, fans are very excited to see him play in the role he was so good at under the same manager. But it didn’t look like that until now.
Ugarte was looking confused on the pitch like he didn’t know where he and his teammates were on the pitch. He only started two league games from 14 games so far this season, with a record that Man United always conceded when he was on the pitch.
Manchester United are in a Dilemma
Manchester United are perhaps looking to sell with Ugarte’s value being surprisingly still high. INEOS will potentially ask for a higher fee if Galatasaray want to sign him in January, because Man United it will be hard for United to find his replacement.
Man United are reportedly looking to sign Joao Gomes from Wolves in January, but Wolves are reluctant to release him in the next month because he is an important part of the very struggling Wolves side.

The positive note that could be taken if United decide to sell is they can use the fund to sign a player with more characteristic and profile that suits the Amorim system.
Amorim has been hinting about signing a hard working midfielder since his arrival a year ago, but until now, he got no change in the midfield.
Galatasaray are very keen on bringing him to Turkey with them looking to sign more reinforcement for their squad. It will be interesting on what kind of deal Manchester United are looking for to let Ugarte leave in January.
It could be a loan deal with an option or an obligation to buy, just like what they did with Rashford and Hojlund this summer. Or maybe United are looking for a permanent deal only so they can reuse the fund immediately.
