Manchester United are still on a mission to overhaul their midfield with some possible signings already on their list.
This summer, United tried to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, but decided not to continue their pursuit when The Seagulls asked for more than £100 million if The Red Devils wanted to sign him this summer. Man United finally decided to sign Senne Lammens instead.
This Season, Adam Wharton is high on the Manchester United list as the Englishman is having a good season with Crystal Palace. Wharton actually performed well since last season, but the big teams are still waiting to see his performance this season to make sure that his performance last season wasn’t just a fluke.
Wharton is still having a long contract with Palace. He was signed from Blackburn Rovers in 2024 and signed a long-term deal with The Eagle.
Manchester United are changing their transfer policy since this season, as they are now looking for Premier League proven players to sign rather than focusing on talents from other leagues like they did for a long time.
They spent more than £120 million this summer to sign Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo from Wolves and Brentford. And the transfer is spot on as both of them are giving instant impact for the squad without the need of long adaptation time.
For Crystal Palace, Wharton is not the only important player that potentially leaves South London next season with many clubs keeping an eye on them. Marc Guehi was almost signed for Liverpool this summer, but the transfer failed to proceed. With him refusing to sign a new contract, he will leave Palace as a free agent next season.
Jean-Philippe Mateta also linked with Manchester United as they still need a striker to cover for Sesko and become the competition for him.
Palace are famous for having talented young players in their squad that are ready for a big move to the bigger teams. This season, Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze with the fee around £60 million, and last season, they sold their high potential right winger, Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for £50 million.

Manchester United Also Linked With More Palace Players

Steve Parish had an interview with The Athletic and said that Palace could lose some key players at the end of this season.
“We’ve got one eye on players who we might have to replace in the summer,” he said.
“We’re not going to throw it all on red and have a massive problem. Unless you want to be in a situation where you’re constantly putting in money every year, there’s a cash limit to what you can spend.
“You can’t spend money you don’t have. You have to have some guardrails as a club, or you’ll build up big problems down the track. Everyone saw where prices went in the summer; it’s a difficult landscape.
“There wasn’t the right thing available at the right time when the finances were in place. There’s no point in doing something for the sake of it. How are you going to get someone to come and tell them they are No 1 in Ebs position if you still have him? The one where we didn’t, with Marc, we kept him.
“You can’t always make happen what you want to. We are where we are in the pecking order; you could ask why other clubs make bids for our players two weeks before the end of the window. I don’t know why they did that.”
