Premier League: Sitting 4th in the table, with quality players on every position and a top class manager – Crystal Palace are having their best league campaign in their history.
Marc guehi scored a header late into the game to secure the 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. That goal moved Palace to the Champions League position.
With 26 points from 15 games, it is their highest point tally of the opening matches, and make them a serious contender for a slot in the European competition next season.
Eddie Nketiah said that “the sky is the limit” if his team continues to perform with this high spirit. Nketiah, who had his 50th appearance for Palace scored the opening goal against Fulham.
“I could mention many players but it was a huge team effort – that makes me very proud,” he said.
“That’s why we are where we are.”
This time praise came from Oliver Glasner who criticised the club for their lack of investment this summer after their 2-1 home defeat against Manchester United.
With his current contract running out at the end of the season, and the future if their important players like Adam Wharton and Marc Guehi remain uncertain, there is a concern that Glasner might not want to sign a new contract.
Greatest manager in Palace’s Premier League History?
Oliver Glasner joined the Premier League’s side Crystal Palace in February of 2024 after his successful tenure at Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg.

The Austrian manager has since taken Palace to back-to-back points totals record in the Premier League, and led the team to their first major trophy in their history after the win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season.
That trophy then led to their first Europe’s competition, even though it was downgraded to Conference League from Europa League due to the multi-club ownership rules. They also beat the Premier League champion to claim their Community Shield trophy.
Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports: “We are watching the best manager and the best team in Crystal Palace’s history.
“Those supporters could not have dreamed what would happen to their football club when that man came in.”
Glasner also made Selhurst Park a difficult fortress for the opponent with their unbeaten run in the league until their defeat against Manchester United last weekend.

Squad not big enough to manage schedule

Oliver Glasner is an ambitious manager, and he certainly feels that the lack of summer investment, they couldn’t really compete with the packed Premier League schedule and the European competition.
He certainly wishes that the lack of squad depth will be recognized and the January transfer window will be the starting point of the club’s commitment to support Glasner.
If Palace want to keep hold of Glasner next summer, they need to get their ambitions aligned with Glasner as soon as possible.
“There’s a huge talking point around Glasner himself with his contract,” former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given told BBC Sport.
“If you’re a director you’re trying to tie him down. The job he’s done is phenomenal – winning the FA Cup and Charity Shield and getting Palace into Europe. You couldn’t ask for any more.
“He was angry and upset after the United game as he felt he wasn’t backed in the summer. It will be interesting to see what happens in January and the summer and if they back him.”
