Premier League’s Mid Week game facing Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspurs. Two late goals from Cristian Romero allowed Thomas Frank to leave St. James Park with a positive result after trains of bad results in the past weeks.

Spurs’ captain late equaliser is the second leveller in that Premier League game will not cover up the flaws of the teams, but at least it could give Thomas Frank a little space to breathe after his job as the head coach is not looking good.

It is also important for Romero as he showed why he is trusted Argentina National Team’s defender by helping Kevin Danso to keep Woltemade quiet as Newcastle was frustrated to break down the Tottenham’s defense.

“It wasn’t us at our best today,” Eddie Howe said. “It’s disappointing.”

On the other hand, Thomas Frank looked happier by saying:

“I really liked the character of the team,” he said. “This is a really difficult place to come and the performance showed fantastic mentality and character. Our ability to react to setbacks was great. At first we suffered but, after that, we were brave on the ball and calm going forward.”

The former Brentford manager said that he was having a decent work life balance before Tottenham signed him to replace Ange Postecoglou. He managed to get eight hours of sleep, five exercise sessions in a week, and a relaxing family holiday.

Looking at the performance of Tottenham in the Premier League and the pressure he gets from all around him, he looks like needs a quick spa break. For more Premier League related news, find it on

Frank’s gesture in the first half, especially after Romero got a yellow card for fouling Joelinton showed evidence that tension is rising, and losing the game will look bad for his career in Tottenham.

Guglielmo Vicario who has been getting a lot of criticism after his recent costly mistake also played decently in this game. Frank said that he will not drop Vicario after that mistake despite all the criticism from the fans. Vicario answered the manager’s trust by playing with all he got and being a decent last wall for Spurs in that game.

How Both Teams Faced this Premier League’s Match

Newcastle were playing with a lot of intensity. They pressed hard and high off the pitch, making Spurs play more direct balls and avoiding having the ball too long in their own half. Spurs played with the intention to get counter attacks and break the Newcastle’s Defense when they were not ready.

In this match we could also see that both teams were giving away the ball too easily and you can see Frank’s reaction when Kudus attempted and showing his juggling ability in his own half when Eddie Howe’s players were trying to press him.

Tottenham will hope that this positive result away from home could be a stepping stone for them to have better performance in each game that they will play. After four losses in a row in all competitions, Tottenham looked like a team with no fighting spirit and the intention to win.

For the Newcastle side, Eddie Howe’s high pressing tactics sometimes proved to be not sustainable, especially with them having to play in Europe and packed Premier League fixtures this season. Howe needs to find a way to make sure his plans could be done week in week out. Not an easy job of course, but with the team’s inconsistency this season, something needs to change.

Sandro Tonali was injured in this match, a bad news for Newcastle as Tonali has been very important for them in the midfield. His allrounder skill sets really helped Newcastle to be a solid unit in the midfield.
