Premier League goalkeeper of Chelsea, Filip Jorgensen reportedly wants to leave in January to seek more game time. His position at Chelsea as a cover for Robert Sanchez made it hard for him to compete for a spot in the Denmark’s National Team for the 2026 World Cup.

Jorgensen believes that by moving from Chelsea and getting more regular football, he will get a call from the Denmark’s National Team and get a spot in the World Cup squad.

On the other hand, Chelsea are also reportedly demanding more money for clubs that are interested in signing Jorgensen in January. Chelsea have already planned to allow Jorgensen to leave next summer.

Enzo Maresca as the head coach of The Blues claiming that he doesn’t have any conversation yet with Jorgensen about that matter.

The reason why Chelsea will be less likely to sell Jorgensen in January is because it will be harder to find the goalkeeper replacement in January because most clubs will not allow their main man to leave in the middle of the season.

But if in the winter transfer window there is a club that would pay the demanded fee from Chelsea, they will let him leave.

How Chelsea Will Deal the Second Part of the Premier League if Jorgensen Leaves

The replacement for Jorgensen will likely be a goalkeeper that is already familiar with the Premier League. Or potentially they will recall Mike Panders from his loan spell in Strasbourg.

Mike Panders currently has a good loan spell at Strasbourg by playing regularly in the Ligue 1 in France and also competing  in the UEFA Conference League.

In the end, if Jorgensen left Chelsea in January and Panders recalled from his loan. Sanchez will still be the number one option for Chelsea, and Panders will be his cover replacing Filip Jorgensen.

Chelsea is planning to add him to the first team next season and not recalling him for the second part of the league because they want Pander to gain as much experience as possible by playing regular football in local and European competition. Chelsea believe that Pander will be ready for Premier League level by next year if he keeps developing at this rate. Because as we know, the Premier League is not just about the technical and physical part of the game. One of the most important things to play well in the Premier League is the strong mentality that gives confidence.

The coaching staff at Chelsea believe that they have a safe goalkeeper line up for the next couple of seasons. Even if Jorgensen and Sanchez decide to leave the club next summer, they already have Mike Panders that is ready to step up his game into the Premier League level.

Even if he is not quite ready from the pressure, Panders could add some competition to the future Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper. That is a good thing to have as a club. A young talent who’s ready to step up when needed and currently having wonderful season in the other league.
