The four-bedroom house on Grasmere Street in Guildford, in Sydney’s west, went under the hammer at the weekend, drawing a huge crowd for the auction.
The single storey home has two bathrooms, a laundry and a carport.
LJ Hooker agent Paulette Galeb said the 739sq m plot the house sits on – and the 795sq m vacant lot next to it – were bought separately by a pair of friends.
An adjacent block of land sold for $1.27 million.

Ms Galeb said the price was definitely in the land, noting the house would likely be knocked down.
‘It depends on the development but it could become a dual occupancy,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.
He said the interior of the house was filled with belongings from the previous owner, making the house a dead property.
‘In one way I was surprised by the price but in another I wasn’t – blocks of land like this rarely come around these days,’ said Ms Ghaleb.

Footage of the auction was shared on TikTok with many Aussies shocked at the property’s hefty price tag considering the home’s condition.
‘2 toilets???? The whole house looks like a toilet!!!’ One person commented.
‘Whoever has 1 million to buy land in Guildford, you still need to build houses,’ said another.
‘Understandable, that’s a lot of land – $1.15 million will get you a 70sq m 2 bed 1 bath apartment in Sydney’s east,’ noted another.
