An abandoned baby girl who was ‘left for wild animals to eat’ in a garbage bag was discovered by a stray dog and taken to safety, according to reports.
The animal found the baby girl, whose age is unknown, in a bean bag in the town hall of the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli on Wednesday.
The dog then dragged the bag with the newborn in it, when a man walked by and heard a cry coming from it, The National reported.
A passer-by took the child to the Islamic Hospital before transferring it to the Tripoli Government Hospital.
His condition was described as serious but stable, with people describing his survival in the tragic incident as a ‘miracle’.

Photos of the child shared online show that she was left with bruises and cuts during the terrifying ordeal, but is said to have recovered quickly from her injuries.
The country sparked widespread outrage and condemnation of the heinous act, with many noting that the dog had ‘more humanity’ than the ‘criminal’ parents.
Some say the dog is an unclean animal and of course that’s not true,’ said Farid, a commentator on Twitter.
‘Dogs have more humanity, kindness, cunning and intelligence than some demonic mutant in human form.’
Another tweeted: ‘Animals have more compassion than humans.’
Many have also expressed interest in adopting the orphaned child.
Police are currently investigating who was behind the brutal abandonment.
