Wine experts believe that high-end wine is not just for fine dining.

He holds tasting events at £40 per head, so guests can try five different vino as Chris talks them through pairings.

He hosts them at his Mast & Lees wine shop and tasting room in Islington and orders iconic McDonald’s items from Chris Deliveroo to go with the wines.

Chris said: ‘We don’t all eat at Michelin-star restaurants most evenings.

‘But most of us, like me, like to drink wine in the evening. Have a wine choice for what you’re eating.

‘I thought it would be interesting to focus on something that you don’t traditionally have wine with.

‘Prices are high at the moment and there are some great pairs available

‘Most people think ‘I can only think of spending a fortune on wine pairings or premium wines for a fancy dinner party.’

‘But actually you can match any type of wine with some things.’

Chris says the key to finding the perfect pair is all about balance.

He recommends pairing contrasting flavors like fatty fried chicken with a fresh wine with high acidity, like Champagne.

He added: ‘A good example is fish and chips. We usually add something contrasting like lemon or vinegar because it contrasts nicely with the fried breaded fish.

‘We pair wine with McNuggets, Big Macs and chips.

‘My favorite food pairing is Sauternes – a sweet wine from Bordeaux with apple pie.’

The wine expert says his program is more popular with younger guests.

It has been a huge success so far with subsequent events on August 9 selling out.

Chris is also opening a second wine shop where he hopes to host similar events.
