Popular ABC Melbourne radio host Jacinta Parsons has stepped down as presenter of the afternoon show

‘Like many, my life has gone through some changes in the last few months, which has meant some changes to the way I work,’ Ms Price said.

‘I am very sorry to say that I have to withdraw from the afternoon program so that I can attend to my other duties.

‘I am grateful to the ABC for their support and very excited to say that I am not leaving completely – and will continue to join Brian Nankervis every Friday on Friday Revue.’

Ms Price said the Covid lockdown and separation from her partner of 25 years had changed the course of her life, forcing her to embrace solitude.

‘I’ve got some responsibilities that are really hard to fulfill when you’re doing a 15-hour live radio program a week. It’s such a big job,’ Ms Parsons told The Age.

‘We’re getting better at recognizing what we actually need to do to put the right things in place for a good life, post-pandemic.’

‘We know Jacinta will be sorely missed in the afternoon, but she will remain an integral part of the station.’

It is understood Ms Price will pursue some part-time professional opportunities outside the national broadcaster.

The ABC said Radio Melbourne would announce an afternoon replacement next week.

Miss Parsons’ final show will be next Thursday, July 27
