During the warm summer months, you may notice an influx of pesky flies in your home—but there’s a simple trick to getting rid of them, and it doesn’t involve chemicals.

Andrei Emelyanov from St. Petersburg, Russia took to his popular TikTok channel @andrelifehack to try out some life hacks he saw online.

The clip, which has received 7.8 million views, shows the TikToker how to capture flies, as well as ways to stop pots from boiling and make batteries last longer.

In the first clip, Andrei looks at a cut fruit in a glass before making a paper funnel to hold it on top.

The fly trapper seemed to work well as the next clip shows a few fruit flies trapped inside the glass.

Many people rushed to the comments in disbelief about the fly hack while others wanted to know more.

One wrote: ‘Is that apple to hack first? Peaches? Are you both okay?’ To which someone replied: ‘Only the fruit is fine.’

Another said: ‘Mix vinegar and dishwashing soap in a cup. Vinegar attracts flies while soap keeps them in the mix.’

A third added: ‘Yeah but fruit flies will never die this way. They have constant food and oxygen.’

To which others replied: ‘You don’t just leave them there! Contain them and take the glass outside so that they are no longer in your house..’

Next, Andre tried placing a wooden spoon over a pot that was about to boil and surprisingly the bubbles dropped to the bottom before spilling over.

He went to sample the bizarre concoction of Pringles dipped in Nutella and was indifferent to the taste.

Later the content creator stuck tin foil on the end of the battery to see if it really extended the life of the battery and was pleasantly surprised that it worked.

Finally, Andrei placed an empty pepper grinder in boiling hot water to dissolve the gum and remove the top, which worked perfectly, meaning he could refill the grinder.
