A young woman has been left feeling ‘freaked out’ after her hinge date ‘backed her’ in the middle of the night.
American YouTube personality Tana Mongeau, 25, went on a first date with a 34-year-old man she thought was a ‘super good guy’.
The next night she attended a fashion event and claimed he was interested in seeing her that evening.
While Tana messaged him that she would probably be in touch to meet up that night, he was instead with friends at an unannounced nightclub.
‘Five minutes go by and he texts me and says, “I’m out, get in my car. I’m out”,’ Tana told her canceled podcast co-host Brooke Schofield.

When Tana messaged him that she would probably be in touch to meet up later that night, he instead showed up at an unannounced nightclub where he was with friends.
He recalled the entire ordeal in a podcast episode that was also shared in a TikTok video.
‘I went out with him on a date the night before and the next day, he was like, ‘I want to see you tonight’,” she began.
‘I was like, “Okay, I have this event. I’ll let you know what I’m doing later. We can hang out, if not, I’ll let you know.” And then he goes, “Can I come with you?”
‘I find it very strange that when you go on a date with someone, they invite themselves.’
The glamorous blonde said she was paid to attend the event and didn’t feel comfortable bringing along someone she barely knew.
‘I don’t want to babysit this guy all night. Like, I want to be able to do my job,’ he continued.
‘So I say, “I don’t know… Let’s meet later.” And he’s like, “Why not? Like, I can talk to people too.” He’s 34, I find that to be kind of weird, you know? I was like, “Maybe see you later”.
‘Five minutes go by and he texts me saying, “I’m out, get in my car. I’m out”,’ Tana told her canceled podcast co-host Brooke Schofield.
After the fashion event, she and her friends attended an after-party nightclub in Los Angeles.
‘So he’s texting me, and he says, “What are you doing?” I’m like, “Oh, I’m still hanging out with my friends”,’ Tana said.
‘I tell him, “I know it’s 1:15 in the morning, it’s kind of late, but if you want to watch a movie or hang out later, I can probably stay down but I’ll be here.”
‘He says, “Okay. I’m tired but I’m going to the movies later if you finish early.” And I’m like, “Okay, perfect”.
‘And he goes, “Where are you?” I answer him because it’s just conversation. So I’m like, “Oh I’m just vibed with my friends at this nightclub. I’ll let you know when I’m done”.
However, five minutes later she claims to have received a text from the man saying she was out in his car.
‘Five minutes go by and he texts me saying, “I’m out, get in my car. I’m out”,’ she said.
‘And I go, “What do you mean you’re out?” And he’s like, “I live five minutes away, I’m out.”
Co-host Brooke added how Tana never asked to ‘pick me up’ from the afterparty.
Tana continued: ‘I think it’s so crazy. If it’s like your boyfriend, that’s fine or even if we’ve been dating for a month.
But we went on a date the other day. Why are you outside? Don’t stay out.’
Tana recalled the entire ordeal in a podcast episode that was shared in a TikTok video that has now been viewed more than 3.2 million times.
The video has since gained public attention and has been viewed 3.2 million times.
‘This story was nuts, so wild,’ one commented, while another said: ‘It’s crazy.’
‘Literally said to one guy ‘maybe we can hang out later’ I fell asleep, and he showed up at my house,’ said a third.
Others shared their own experiences in the dating scene.
One wrote, ‘I learn not to tell people what I’m doing because of this.
‘Something like this has happened to me before and it scared me,’ added another.
