It’s been seven months since Toni Collette confirmed her split from husband Dave Galafasir after 20 years of marriage.

But the 50-year-old looked anything but heartbroken as she went swimming on the Italian island of Ischia with her good friend and fellow Australian actor and producer Christopher Simon, 60, on Saturday.

The couple, who are attending the Ischia Global Fest 2023 to promote their new film Mafia Mama, were seen enjoying an afternoon by the sea as they lounged on deckchairs in their swimwear and chatted.

They were in high spirits as they joked and laughed together under the European sun.

Toni showed off her trim figure in a tiny orange bikini that featured a triangle halter-neck top and high-cut bottoms, while Christopher showed off his muscular body in gray striped board shorts.

Tony and Christopher are longtime friends, having previously worked together on the 2015 comedy film Miss You Already – in which Tony starred while Christopher served as producer.

Christopher and Tony co-produced the film Mafia Mama, which was released earlier this year and featured Tony in the lead role.

Tony, who also stars in the film, paid tribute to Christopher for his hard work on the film earlier this year, sharing an Instagram video of the pair dancing in a photo shoot for the official Mafia Mama poster.

‘This is my producing partner, irreplaceable and indomitable, Chris Simon. A boogie with a friend and some prosecco can get a girl in the mood for anything!’ the Muriel’s Wedding star captioned the clip.

In December, Collette announced that she and her husband of 20 years, musician Dave Galafasi, 46, were divorcing.

The former couple, who are parents to daughter Sage, 15, and son Arlo, 12, married in 2003.

Dave, who was a drummer in an indie rock band when he met the About a Boy star, confirmed their split in December 2022 when he passionately kissed chiropractor Shannon Egan at Sydney’s Manly Beach.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Tony’s management about the photos, and hours later he announced the couple had split in a joint statement released on his newly reactivated Instagram account.

Tony and Christopher posed arm-in-arm on the Ischia Global Fest 2023 red carpet later on Saturday

In a joint statement, she wrote, ‘It is with grace and gratitude that we announce that we are divorcing.

‘We are united in our decisions and participate with continued respect and care for each other. Our children are most important to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit in a different shape.’

‘We are grateful for the space and for you to love us as we evolve and peacefully move through this transition. Thank you very much.’

A longtime friend of Toni told Woman’s Day earlier this year that she was devastated that their split had become so public.

‘She hasn’t recovered from her breakup and isn’t likely to anytime soon,’ the friend told the publication at the time.

‘Tony is a wonder how he manages to pull himself together and keep working.

‘The promotional aspect of the film is something he usually enjoys, but not when his life is in chaos.’

The pair met in Sydney in 2002 at the launch of Galafasi’s band’s debut album Metal Detector, and had their second encounter just days later at a house party.

They were married in Buddhist rites at his property in Berry on the NSW south coast in January 2003, less than a year after they met.
