You can tell how big a man’s penis is by looking at his hands… but not by how you think
NHS surgeon Dr Rajan shared the advice in a TikTok video which has been viewed by 915,000. He suggested that the shorter a man’s index finger, the bigger his penis.
You know what they say about men with big feet?
Well, try looking at their index finger instead.
A doctor claims a man’s hands can reveal more about what’s hidden under his trousers than you might expect.
According to NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan, the shorter a man’s index finger is compared to his ring finger, the bigger his penis.
Dropping the revelation on TikTok in a video with more than 915,000 views, he said: ‘This is known as the second to fourth digit ratio, which is calculated by dividing the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger.

Dropping the revelation in a video with more than 915,000 views on TikTok, he said: ‘This is known as the second to fourth digit ratio, which is calculated by dividing the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger.’
He added: ‘The shorter the index finger, the lower the 2D:4D ratio.
‘A smaller numerical ratio indicates higher exposure to testosterone in utero.
‘According to research, testosterone not only controls future penis length, but also future finger length.’
But this is not a ‘hard and fast rule’, explains Dr Rajan, who is based in Dorset.
‘It’s an interesting study but not a rule book,’ he added.
A 2011 study by Korean researchers compared the difference in finger length of 144 men and measured it with the length of their penises when it was flaccid and stretched. They found that the 2D:4D ratio ‘can predict penis size in adults’.
The study only measured the fingers of the right hand because the researchers claim there are ‘numerous reports that gender differences in digit ratios are greater on the right hand side than on the left hand side’.
Writing in the Asian Journal of Andrology, they also stated that ‘the right hand may be more sensitive to the effects of testosterone’.
But hands aren’t the only body part associated with male height.
Backing up the ‘big nose, big hose’ theory, a scientific study found that men with big noses have longer penises.
Japanese researchers last month found that men with the biggest noses had an ‘extended penile length’ of 13.4cm, or more than five inches on average.
Those with smaller noses had penises of 10.4 cm or four inches.
According to the NHS, nothing will make a man’s penis bigger or smaller.
How can you measure your 2D:4D ratio?
To measure your finger straighten it and look at your palm.
Creases are likely at the base of your index and ring fingers. Chances are your index finger has a crease, the ring finger is a band of creases.
Select the crease closest to the palm and pick a point midway across the fingertip.
Mark it with a pen. Measure it from the mark to the tip of the finger.
