Trump has said his 2024 running mate could be one of his current opponents

Trump said his 2024 running mate could be a current opponent like Vivek Ramaswamy or Sen. Tim Scott — and called anti-vaxxer Democratic contender RFK Jr. a ‘very smart person’

So far the 2024 Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump, said Sunday that he would consider some of his competitors as his running mates.

That could include Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom the former president called a ‘very smart person’ during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that aired Sunday morning.

Trump said there are many among the people who participated in the 2024 presidential campaign who he would consider adding to his general election ticket as well as filling out his cabinet if he were to win another term in office.

In particular, Trump praised biotech millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott.

Former President Donald Trump said during an interview Sunday morning that he would consider one of his incumbent 2024 contenders as a running mate if he were to become the Republican nominee.

Trump called Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (pictured doing pushups in a social media video) a ‘very smart person’ in the interview – although the longshot candidate has come under fire for his controversial stance.

‘I think Vivek has done a very good job, to be honest. I think somebody else did a better job,’ Trump said in his interview with the Sunday Morning Futures host.

Trump said ‘probably’ when asked about running with them already in the 2024 field.

‘You actually have some good people on stage,’ Trump told Bartiromo. ‘I think you have some very talented people. I have been influenced by some of them. Some of them I’m actually very friendly.’

‘I think you have good cabinet members too,’ added the former president and 2024 frontrunner.

Bartiromo specifically asked if Scott was among the top talents.

‘I think he’s a very nice guy. We zoned in on opportunity together,’ Trump responded. ‘The team is very good.’

‘I mean, I can see Tim doing something with the administration, but he’s campaigning now, and I’m sure Tim and everyone else will say I’m only interested in one – but Tim’s a very talented guy and you’ve got another very talented guy.’

Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Sen. Scott said he’s not interested in discussing the possibility of a VP run because there are still people who want him to be president

“There are people who want me to be No. 1, and so I’m going to run for one purpose — to be president of the United States,” Scott told Fox host Neil Cavuto. ‘I didn’t enter this race to come second. First rate in second place.’

It’s unlikely, but not out of the question, that Trump could see controversial longshot Democratic candidate RFK Jr. as a running mate.

‘He’s a very smart man,’ Trump told Bartiromo of RFK Jr. ‘I know a lot of members of that family and he’s a very smart man. And he hit a nerve a little bit. And I know a lot of Democrats want to vote for him.’

Trump had particular praise for fellow 2024 candidates Vivek Ramaswamy (right) and Sen. Tim Scott (left) — both of whom the former president said he might consider as his running mates.

Trump sat down with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo for an interview that aired on her Sunday Morning Futures program.

The Democrat has drawn attention for his controversial stances, including, recently, claiming that COVID-19 is ‘racially targeting … certain races disproportionately’.

In particular, he said that the Jewish people were deliberately not affected by the epidemic.

‘COVID-19 disproportionately attacks certain races,’ Kennedy said in a video obtained by the New York Post. ‘Covid-19 is targeting Caucasians and Blacks. Those most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.’

Since launching his campaign in mid-November, Trump has consistently led national Republican primary polls.

The Iowa caucuses are roughly six months away and the first debate — which Trump may not even participate in — is Aug. 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
