A thread appeared on men’s Reddit revealing their biggest dating turn-offs titled ‘Guys, what do women do that gets you 18k votes?’
A thread has emerged on Reddit of men revealing their biggest dating turn-off when it comes to being in a relationship.
Thread, ‘Guys, Do Women Do The Eck?’ The title has been upvoted 18,700 times with over 13,500 comments.
One of the top comments in the thread, which has been upvoted more than 12,400 times by users, reads: ‘One for when you’re in a relationship: when you’re with friends and they’re clearly less pleasant to you than when you’re alone, like making fun of you. And making jokes at your expense that they don’t usually make. It was about more than one. Like… what is it?’
A second said: ‘This girl called me ‘sowie’ trying to be nice, and I instantly lost interest in her.’
Another commented that their biggest turn off was the ‘over-the-top solipsism. The whole ‘I don’t understand it that way, so the way you perceive it can’t be valid’ mentality.’
The popular thread comes after a Pew Research Center survey of more than 6,000 Americans found that 30 percent of the population identified as single.
Another expressed his distaste for those who ‘vocally sympathize with every cause and group in the world but treat people like garbage in their private lives.’
And of course, one of the biggest turn-offs for men in relationships also features the common bugbear of ‘mentioning their ex constantly’.
‘Shaming and molesting men who show emotion. Another Reddit user added, It’s honestly one of the most fucked up things anyone can do to another person.
The popular thread comes after a Pew Research Center survey of more than 6,000 Americans found that 30 percent of the population identified as single.
But when broken down by age group and gender, that number rises to 63 percent among 18- to 29-year-old men — a whopping 12 percent increase since 2019.
According to the latest US Census Bureau report, the average age at which a man gets married is now 30, a significant increase from just under 24 in 1950, while the average age for a woman is now 28.
The survey also found that while the average US adult was looking for dates and relationships less frequently after the pandemic, women accounted for the least interested group.
According to the data, 49 percent of adults were looking for a committed romantic relationship or casual date in 2019, but that number dropped to 42 percent in 2022.
Experts on the rise in loneliness among young people say the trend comes amid changing gender roles in America
Men, in particular, accounted for 61 percent of those looking for love in 2019, and by 2022, only half of men were looking for a relationship.
Women, however, made up only 38 percent of the 2019 figure, and in 2022, only 35 percent of women reported they were dating or committed to a relationship.
Experts weighing in on the rise in loneliness among young men say the trend comes amid changing gender roles since the Cultural Revolution of the 50s and 60s in America.
