Mark Zuckerberg is training to take on potential tech rival Elon Musk — and he has ringing support from at least one pro fighter.
Zuckerberg recently trained with UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and was impressed with the Aussie meta founder’s skills.
‘I guarantee you, you will be very surprised,’ he told TMZ.
‘I’m telling you he’s serious. I don’t know how serious Elon is, but I’m telling you, he’s training!’
While there is no confirmation or set date for a fight between Zuckerberg and Musk, the possibility was raised earlier this month as Meta prepared to roll out ‘Threads’ to rival Musk’s Twitter.
Zuckerberg trained with UFC champions Israel Adesanya (L) and Alex Volkanovsky on Tuesday.
Zuckerberg (seen competing in Brazilian jiu jitsu) and Volkanovsky are said to be close friends.
Alexander Volkanovsky prepares for his fight against Yar Rodriguez on July 8 in Las Vegas.
It all started when Musk, the owner of Twitter, responded to a tweet about the launch of Meta’s new website. He took a dig at the world becoming ‘exclusively under Zucker’s thumb with no other choice’ – but then a Twitter user jokingly warned Musk about Zuckerberg’s jiu jitsu training.
‘I’m ready for a cage match if he does,’ Musk wrote late Tuesday.
Zuckerberg quickly responded – and appeared to agree to Musk’s offer by writing ‘Send me the location’.
And when an impressively ripped Zuckerberg appeared in a post-training photo with Volkanovski and two-time UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, it was clear he was fighting for real.
‘I mean you can see that he’s in shape but he’s really in shape,’ Volkanovski said. ‘It’s not just looks, he’s really, dude. He trains, he’s very athletic, he’s coordinated and he’s committed.’
If a fight between Zuckerberg and Musk were to go ahead, there would likely be huge interest.

UFC president Dana White, who hopes to promote the Musk-Zuckerberg bout, said he would charge $100, as opposed to the standard $80 UFC PPV price.
“It will break all pay-per-view records,” White told TMZ.
‘These guys will raise millions of dollars for charity and, you know, you don’t have to be a big fight fan to be interested in this fight. Everyone wants to see it.’
Conor McGregor will also be interested in the fight.
In a clip obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com from reporter Adam Glynn, the 35-year-old was asked about the potential fight.
‘I’m interested,’ said McGregor. ‘Will they go ahead with it? Are they going to make it happen?

Musk (R) had a tough training session with Georges St-Pierre (red shorts) in early July
‘If it happens under the UFC banner, I’m with him. It has to happen under the UFC banner.’
Both the Meta founder and Twitter chief have received offers from other UFC stars to help them train.
Musk has received offers from other high-profile mixed martial artists such as Jorge Masvidal, Dominick Cruz and Georges St-Pierre.
He admitted he needed ‘a lot more training’ after a few tough sessions with St-Pierre, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.
