Margot Robbie cemented her Anglophile credentials yesterday as she met the Love Island stars at the Barbie premiere in London – as fans flocked to McDonald’s, TGI Fridays and Slug & Lettuce to catch a glimpse of her.
The 33-year-old has long professed her love of all things British – not least during her time living in Clapham, south-west London – where she enjoyed outdoor pints, wild house parties and sweaty nights at infamous local nightclub Infernos.
The Aussie, who is married to a Brit, is also a huge fan of UK reality TV – so much so that she once threw a Love Island themed birthday party. She was seen fangirling again at last night’s Barbie after party, snapping selfies with Akin-Sue Culcolo, David Sanclementi, Liberty Poole and Danica Taylor.
Taking to Instagram on the night, season eight winner Akin-Su shared a carousel of snaps with Margot as she posed in front of the Barbie logo.
She wrote: ‘We Queens’ before uploading a full-length photo of the two of them in a selfie with a smiley face emoji captioned ‘I can’t’.

Akin-Soo’s ex-boyfriend David, 28, managed to snap a selfie with Margot, writing: ‘I’m a Barbie man, in a Barbie world.’
Margot previously revealed she thought the pair’s season was ‘the best Love Island season ever’, adding: ‘Paige [Thorne] Probably my favorite – but for pure entertainment I think David and Ekin-su made the season.’
Explaining her love of the series, she added: ‘Love Island reminds me of being in London – watching it with my girlfriends when everyone was home from work.’
Margot’s former home in Clapham, affectionately known as ‘The Manor’ by its residents, was a hotbed of parties and hard drinking – followed by small-hour excursions.
It was there that Margot began her relationship with her husband, Surrey-born filmmaker Tom Ackerley, and described it as ‘the best time’.
The lease on the property was originally signed in early 2014, shortly after the release of the film that would make her name – Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, in which she played seductress Naomi LaPaglia opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

It was in the UK that Margot began her relationship with her husband, Surrey-born filmmaker Tom Ackerley (Last Night Together) and what she describes as ‘the best of times’.
Margot took her love of Love Island to new heights in 2020 as she brought Lucy Donlon, Michael Griffiths and Jordan Hames back to her apartment after the London premiere.
Lucy shared last year: ‘After the film, we got a video message from Margot via an Instagram DM saying, “Please come to the after party!”‘

Barbie fans packed into a Burger King in Leicester Square to try and catch a glimpse of the stars in attendance last night.
In one from April 2014, captioned ‘House Decay’, a brunette Margot looks almost unrecognizable as she poses on a terrace with her new housemates.
‘I was like a naughty schoolgirl,’ she told Vanity Fair. ‘It was my first time living in London proper and I wanted to try every pub. I’m not going to look thin just for the sake of it.’
Another photo on her friend’s Instagram account shows Margot posing at South West Four, an electronic dance festival held at Clapham Common.
He even admits to frequenting Infernos, a local nightclub famous for its 1990s music playlist and sticky dancefloor.
But Margot always insisted that her joys were far more earthly. He extolled the unlikely joys of living in Clapham in an interview with luxury London lifestyle magazine The Resident in 2017.
‘For me, where you live and what you do must be simple and comfortable, otherwise how can you relax?’ she said.
‘Clapham has always felt neutral in the sense that you’re left alone to keep up with who you are and that’s perfect. But I like to be with many people. It reminds me of the house I grew up in.
‘It’s funny – I always think I want privacy because I’m never really alone. But then when I do, I hate it. After five minutes I find people to chat with.’
Margot even talks about her love for one of London’s more divisive features – the tube.
At the UK premiere for Babylon in January, he told The Mirror: ‘I actually have two Oyster cards in my wallet. I always get the tube.’
And when asked if she was in the new Elizabeth line, which opened last year, she said: ‘I haven’t but I hear it’s lovely!’
Margot married Tom Ackerley in December 2016 at a private property in Byron Bay, Corrable.
The following year, the pair moved from London to a 3,300-square-foot Los Angeles pad with four bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Now that she’s in the US it’s possible Margot could meet up with one of her longtime friends – Prince Harry.

Speaking about their friendship in 2020, she said: ‘He’s a really great person… I know as much as I can how big a decision it is to move halfway around the world.’
He continued: ‘I still miss London a lot but I had my reasons for moving and they have reasons for their decision.’
He had previously teased her by hanging her up on the text.
‘He’s actually pretty quick on text. Dislike me. I write again four days later, a few weeks later,’ he told American TV show Extra.
