German women’s soccer star turns down a nude cover shoot with Playboy magazine, fearing ‘Playboy curse’ for female players
Giulia Guin is said to appear in a nude cover shoot by Playboy. Guin turned down the offer as she focused on recovering from injuries. Five German players had their careers negatively affected by the 2011 shoot.
German international Giulia Gwin has reportedly turned down a request from Playboy magazine to appear in a nude cover shoot ahead of the Women’s World Cup.
The Bayern Munich player reportedly approached the men’s magazine earlier this year.
According to German newspaper Bild, the magazine were hoping to include one of the squad’s top players when they approached Guin.
Playboy Germany boss Florian Botin said, ‘Giulia Guin is not only an outstanding athlete, but also a beautiful young woman.’
‘So a personality like her is naturally attractive to Playboy.’

The Bayern Munich star has reportedly turned down the offer as he focuses on recovering from injury
Gwynn reportedly turned down the offer as she tries to regain full fitness ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The 24-year-old was hoping to recover from a cruciate ligament injury last October to be fit for the tournament.
Guinn was expected to be named among Germany’s key players at Euro 2022 last year, with the star named in the tournament’s team of the year.
She was earlier named the best young player at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.
Guwin, who won two league titles with Bayern Munich, missed out on a place in the Germany squad after failing to recover sufficiently from injury.
‘I’ll have to rethink this for myself in the coming days: actually being fit and still not having a chance to recommend myself for a place at the World Cup,’ Gwynn wrote to the squad after his 524,000 Instagram followers were dropped last month.
‘You may be sad and disappointed for a few days, but then you should be proud of a more successfully completed rehabilitation.
‘Personal interactions with national coaches in the run-up to nominations are always eye-opening and a sign of great mutual respect.’

Gwynn, the young player of the 2019 World Cup, was left out of the squad due to injury
The 24-year-old is now expected to cover the tournament as a pundit on German television
Germany coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg claimed it was a ‘difficult decision’ to leave Gwynn out of the squad, with the Bayern Munich player now set to cover the tournament as a pundit.
Voss-Tecklenburg admits she received the same offer from Playboy in 1989.
Voss-Tecklenberg said she did not want women’s soccer to be affected by the association with Playboy.
The Germany coach told Bild that he would let his players make their own decisions about whether to agree to a photo shoot.
Defender Sophia Kleinhern, who will be a member of Germany’s squad, has agreed to an interview with the magazine.
Concerns have also been raised about a possible ‘Playboy curse’ after five members of Germany’s under-20 national team posed in a cover shoot ahead of the 2011 World Cup.
Five players Annika Doppler, Kristina Gessat, Ivana Rudelić, Julia Simic and Selina Wagner were seen struggling to find success after the shoot.
Germany’s national federation was reportedly angered by the shoot, while Simic’s alleged move to Manchester City collapsed as a result of the photos.
Germany, winners in 2003 and 2007, will be favorites to advance from Group H at the Women’s World Cup against Colombia, Morocco and South Korea.
