Aussie drivers use 7-Eleven fuel lock for cheaper petrol prices

I’ve saved hundreds of dollars on petrol this year – that’s my secret

Alex Davidson, from Newcastle, used the My 7-Eleven app for cheaper fuel prices, saving him hundreds of dollars using the store’s ‘Fuel Lock’ feature.

One driver invented a budget-friendly hack to save up to $42 when refilling your car’s fuel tank.

Alex Davidson, from Newcastle, recently revealed that he uses the My 7-Eleven app to ‘lock in’ the lowest petrol price in his area and redeems it the next time his car is low on gas.

The app ‘saves’ prices for seven days – useful at times when fuel prices fluctuate without warning.

Drivers can use the app’s search function to browse prices at their nearest 7-Eleven service station and choose the amount and location that best suits their needs, but they can only use the ‘locked price’ once.

Alex was ecstatic after saving $18 from his recent fuel refill and vowed to stop using the handy tool.

How to use 7-Eleven Fuel Lock

Download the My 7-Eleven app and search for the best prices at the five nearest 7-Eleven stores near you

‘Lock in’ that price to use at any 7-Eleven fuel store in Australia for the next week

While paying for fuel at the counter open the app and select ‘My Card’ and tell the attendant that you have a fuel price lock.

Your fuel lock will apply to 150L of your chosen fuel grade in a single fill

‘This is a PSA (public service announcement),’ Alex says in one clip.

This is your sign to ‘fuel lock’ your petrol price if you don’t use the 7-Eleven app. I only saved $18 on my fuel because I locked in a good price and it lasts seven days!’

‘The guy behind the counter was literally shocked at how much I saved on petrol,’ she reveals.

Many other Aussie drivers have shared ‘crazy’ amounts when using little-known functions.

‘I once saved $42!’ A woman said. ‘Premium locked in at 98 for $1.60 in Bathurst and full in Sydney where it was $2.40.’

‘I saved $25 the other day, I was so happy,’ added another. ‘The price has gone up since I did it.’

‘I love the 7-Eleven fuel lock – I’m sure I’ve saved hundreds,’ one woman wrote.

Some shared additional ways for drivers to get the most out of their savings.

‘Try to lock it in on Tuesday as I was told there is a cheap Tuesday special,’ said one man.

‘There’s one more hack, change your phone’s virtual location to the cheapest in the country and then lock it!’ Another revealed.
