The American fast food chain has unveiled the unusual Baap in Thailand, which it’s calling the ‘real cheeseburger’.

Thai baht (or 2.50 pounds) The dish, priced at 109 Thai baht (or 2.50 pounds), consists of a bun filled with 20 slices of American cheese.

American fast food chain unveils unusual Baap in Thailand, calling it ‘real cheeseburger’

Announcing the news on Sunday, the American fast food chain posted: ‘Not for fun, this is for real!

‘Original cheeseburger from Burger King! Carry up to 20 slices of American cheese!!!’

This explains why the price has been reduced from 380 baht (about £5) to 109 baht (about £2.50).

The post joked others would ‘shout’ the cheeseburgers at the latest release, before encouraging Thai customers to head to their local branch to take up the offer.

According to CNN, a shift manager was overheard saying that his Bangkok store had to stop taking delivery orders so they could stock up on enough Real Cheeseburgers to serve dinners in the store.

But many foodies were conflicted by the offering, with one commenting: ‘Burger King is Thailand’s new cheeseburger. Dude, it’s a cheese sandwich.’

Many foodies took to social media to express their grief over the burger – with some split on whether they should try it.

Another wrote: ‘I’ll eat the Thai Burger King cheeseburger.

A third added: ‘Can you eat that too? Boring! They must love American cheese?’

A fourth wrote: ‘Dear God, no. Not only.’

Another commented: ‘I heard about this! I don’t think I could handle one though haha.’

One added: ‘I can’t imagine…’

Whether Burger King will release the unusual burger to diners around the world remains to be seen.

This isn’t the only unusual release from the fast food restaurant in recent months.

Last month, teenagers turned a McDonald’s drink into the latest bizarre TikTok trend as they filmed themselves pretending to die or suffer other gruesome consequences after downing the bright purple shake.

The limited-edition Grimes Shake, reintroduced by the restaurant chain as an homage to a long-forgotten and frankly boring mascot, inspired a wave of memes and videos that even forced the fast food giant to join in.

Grimes first appeared in the 1970s as part of a campaign designed for young children, he was originally introduced as a villain who stole people’s jerks, but quickly transformed into a cheerful character.

And McDonald’s lovers have certainly taken to the mascot again, but perhaps not in the way the fast-food brand might expect.

The gruesome trend tagged #grimaceshake has garnered more than 778.6 million views on TikTok and has thousands of videos of Gen Xers sipping sugary drinks and then playing dead or injured with the purple drink sticking out of their noses, mouths or heads.
