Two people have died in a horrific house fire in Sydney’s west as an emergency investigation is launched

Two dead in two-storey house fire in Sydney’s west A man, 81, and woman, 75, have died at their home in Weatherill Park.

Two people have died after a house fire in Sydney’s west as an investigation into the cause of the fire begins.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to the blaze on Lily Street in Weatherill Park at around 6.45am on Wednesday.

NSW Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry said the two-storey house was well lit when crews arrived and were acting on reports of at least two people inside.

Emergency services personnel were able to pull two residents from the home, an 81-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, but they could not be revived.

Firefighters were able to pull two residents, an 81-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, from the home, but they could not be revived.

An investigation into the fire has begun with the home to be forensically examined by NSW Police and Fire and Rescue NSW investigators.

Firefighters were confronted with ‘heavy flames’ upon arrival as residents gathered to try and help put out the flames.

Firefighters entered the home in an attempt to rescue the occupants, working under the belief about six people were inside.

He said, ‘Firefighters have pulled out two people who were inside and were still standing.’

‘Initial reports said there were four other people in the house but we don’t believe that was the case.’

Two neighbors who helped put out the fire were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
