‘I lived in a prison’: Rudy Farias speaks for first time as he denies mum molested him but says he was ‘brainwashed and manipulated’ when eight-year-old Sham disappeared

Farias has accused his mother of keeping him locked up the whole time, recently saying he ‘lived in prison.’
Rudy Farias has spoken out for the first time to deny he was ever molested by his mother, but instead said he was ‘brainwashed and manipulated’ during his incarceration.
The Texan had been missing for eight years, before mysteriously reappearing this month amid complaints from neighbours.
Speaking to Fox26Houston, Farias said her ordeal was ‘like I was living in a prison’, adding ‘I just wanted to be free. I just wanted to live my life.’

Farias’ alleged incarceration began in March 2015, when Farias’ mother reported him missing to Houston police.
But with authorities searching for him for nearly a decade, Farias has now offered an insight into his life in captivity.
He claimed that his mother would not physically restrain him, but instead cheated and abused him because he did not want to leave.
‘He would tactfully tell me I’d be arrested for a speeding ticket,’ she said. ‘It just felt like brainwashing, really.’
He added that he had been in his shadow for so long because of the manipulation, which he now describes as ‘Stockholm syndrome’.
